Tis course is designed to present the basic concepts and principles for developing skills competencies required for assisting in surgery. Te course will ofer knowledge in aseptic techniques, scrubbing, gowning and gloving the female anatomy, proper positioning, patient safety, skin preparation instrumentation, supplies and drugs, equipment, and the surgical interventions. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Te lab portion of the course allows the student to practice the theory ofered. Prerequisite: English 101 and Consent of Department Chairperson and concurrent enrollment in Surgical Technology 215. 2lecture and 2 lab hours per week. 4 credit hours.
