PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION 105 - Internship/Survey Psychiatric Rehabilitation & Skills

Tis internship requires a minimum of 76 clock hours of feld experience by student. Experiences are a combination of observation and participation/interaction with consumers of mental health services. Te frst half (or a minimum of 38 hours) will include fve of the following areas: 1) inpatient milieu and general activities; 2) case management activities; 3) vocational training activities; 4) skills training activities; and 5) consumer led activities. Te second half of the internship (a minimum of 38 hours) includes interviewing skills and leading skills training groups, and at least one of the following: behavior defnition and task analysis, aggression management, assessment and treatment and planning, or crisis intervention. All experience should focus on a rehabilitative approach to serving individuals with serve mental illness. Group or individual supervision with on-site clinical staf and/or supervision by feld placement director is also required. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Psychiatric Rehabilitation 101 and 102. 0 lecture and 5 lab hours per week. 1 credit hour.
