Tis course is designed to present the basic and principles for developing skills and competencies required for infection and control in the sterile processing department in a health care facility. Tis course will ofer knowledge in cleaning, disinfecting, decontamination, sterilization, Standard precautions, and Universal precautions. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Completion of English 101, and Consent of Department Chairperson, and co-enrollment in Sterile Technology 217 with a grade of C grade or better. 3lecture and 2 lab hours per week. 4 credit hours.
