Concepts of the health care feld and hemodialy-sis, history and theory of dialysis; batch systems and proportioning systems, single and multiple patient systems, types of dialyzers: plate, coils and capillaries. Types of membrane surfaces, fltration, difusion; dialysis clearance and physics of extra-corporeal circuits. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Admission into the Renal Technology program/plan 247 or 248. 1 lecture and 4 lab hours per week. 3 credit hours.
