Introduction to nursing process and documentation. Nursing theories are briefy surveyed. Emphasis is placed on the development critical thinking skills in the application of nursing process through exercises in care planning and nursing documentation. Students learn and utilize nursing diagnosis (NAN), nursing interventions classifcation (NIC), critical pathways, and other nursing documentation methods for these exercises. Teoretical concepts and clinical nursing skills contained in this course are consistent with the skills standards developed for the State of Illinois. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Admission into Nursing Program 239. 150 minutes per week. 3 credit hours.
