Overview of dialysis equipment, types of dialyzers, blood lines, conductivity meter, blood pump, air bubble detector, dialysis monitoring; negative and positive pressure dialysis, blood fow, vital signs, water treatment (deioniza-tion, reverse osmosis). Heparinization, safety monitor, single needle apparatus. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Admission into the Renal Technology program/plan 247 or 248. 1lecture and 4 lab hours per week. 3 credit hours.
