Completion of didactic experiences in a classroom setting. New modalities in dialysis; CAPD and new delivery system for dialysis, self-care, home training, complications. Patient pre- and post-teaching for nephrectomy and transplants; peritoneal dialysis; manual and automated. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Admission into the Renal Technology program/plan 247 or 248. 150 minutes per week. 3 credit hours.
