Introduction to hospital specifc policies and procedures, continuation of application and practice of respiratory care modalities, now applied to the critically ill patient. Emphasis on airway management, mechanical ventilators, circuitry, mechanical ventilation management and techniques. Comprehensive laboratory competency testing. Clinical cases presented as technical management corollaries. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Respiratory Care courses 114, and 118, and 119 or Consent of Department Chairperson 4 lab hours per week. 2 credit hours.
