Prerequisites: CHEM 101 or CHEM 107. In this laboratory-intensive course, students gain an appreciation for the uses of biotechnology, as well as the legal, social, and ethical issues associated with its use. Students will validate and use laboratory equipment and will explore quality systems, laboratory safety, and data management. Good laboratory practice and good manufacturing practices will be emphasized.
