3 credit hours An overview of the evolution of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the U.S. and surveys the major policies, practices, concepts and challenges confronting the field. An analysis of various organizations under the authority of DHS and an assessment of the current threats from international and domestic terrorism will be examined. Examination of government, private organizations, and citizens involvement in protecting against and responding to terrorist threats. (3 lecture hours)
