3 credit hours Continued exploration of jewelry/metalsmithing processes, materials, tools, and equipment. Techniques introduced include stone setting, lost wax casting, enameling, and etching. Focus on proficiency in the selection, use, and manipulation of materials as well as a mastery of the processes involved. Contemporary trends in jewelry/metalsmithing are examined. Craftsmanship, healthy work habits, and studio safety will be emphasized. Prerequisite: Art 2251 or consent of instructor. (6 lab hours)
