This course provides an introduction to forensic computer and cyberspace investigations, a relatively new branch of the forensic sciences dedicated to the analysis of the computer and Internet as it relates to criminal activity and evidence. This course is designed to introduce the student to the operational functioning of computer technology including its use in tracking and analyzing information to improve the detection of unlawful activity, case solvability factors, and the powerful abilities of computers to rapidly analyze raw data. The handling and treatment of computer related evidence will also be emphasized. No special computer skills or knowledge is required for this class. (Offered spring semester)
