Describes the role of nutrients in digestion, absorption and metabolism. Provides information to make wise consumer choices of food selection, labeling and additives. The five stages of the life cycle are discussed. Diet therapy rationale for the pathologic conditions of the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, renal system is presented.
