Prerequisites: IHH 1100 is strongly recommended This course provides an introduction to nutrition basics and the importance of nutrition for a healthy body, mind and spirit. Students will learn the role nutrition can play in both prevention and treatment of most chronic illness and discuss how environmental and cultural issues affect nutrition. Students will also learn about the history, demographic use, FDA regulation, scientific research and issues of dietary supplements and constituents and properties of herbs and their impact upon the indications and contraindications for herbal use.
