A survey of special needs of young children with emphasis on meeting individual needs encompassing physical, behavioral, intellectual and environmental problems, including those of the culturally disadvantaged. (LAS) (3 credit hours, 48 lecture hours, 0 lab hours) CHLD 2414 Planning Curriculum for Young Children This course has been designed for students interested in developing a preschool classroom that balances teacher-directed and child-directed learning by responding to children?s learning styles and building on their strengths and interests. This course will explain how children learn and what can be done to maximize their opportunities for learning, focusing on individual interest areas, including what goes into organizing each area, what children learn there, and how to observe and respond to children engaged in activities in each area. Co-Requisite: CHLD 1102 for all AA and AAS Early Childhood students (4 credit hours, 48 lecture hours, 32 lab hours) CHILD 2423 Child Care Management and Financial Strategies An introduction to effective personnel management and budgeting processes of an early childhood program. This course includes managing enrollment, staff recruitment and retention, budgets, and financial record keeping. (3 credit hours, 48 lecture hours, 0 lab hours)
