This course is designed to be an overview of the information systems and media associated with the agricultural industry. The purpose of this course is to improve written, visual, and oral communication skills for students employed in agricultural and natural resources professions. This is accomplished by studying communications through news articles, proposals, scientific papers, writing articles for agricultural publications, poster presentations, technical presentations, and PowerPoint presentations. The delivery of this course will be three hours of classroom instruction. There is no current text for this course; however, it is recommended that students obtain a copy of a dictionary and thesaurus. These will be helpful in written assignments. Students will be required to sign up for several Internet Ag websites; therefore, it is imperative that students have an email address and know how to use a computer. A group project will be due during the semester. This will be an oral presentation in which two people debate one side of an issue and another two debate the other side. Each presentation will be graded by a panel and each student on a team will grade the other on participation and effort. (LAS) Prerequisites: ENGL 1113 (3 credit hours, 48 lecture hours, 0 lab hours)
