Provides effective parenting skills appropriate for anyone who is interested in parenthood. Students learn to teach and monitor child?s progress, develop reasoning skills to implement proper first aid, medication, and appropriate guidance measures. Effective listening and spoken techniques in parent/teacher conferences are developed along with communicating skills. Child-care situations and resources are explained and written report examples are developed. The intellectual and emotional growth of children and parents will be taught as well as learning how to develop strategies for managing stressful situations. (3 credit hours, 48 lecture hours, 0 lab hours)
