Prerequisite: LIBR-1010 Th is course will provide students with an introduction to library organization. Students will be introduced to the tasks performed by technical services departments and will learn cataloging and processing terminology; be introduced to cataloging reference tools and resources, such as AACR2, Sears and Library of Congress Subject headings, Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress Classifi cation systems and online bibliographic utilities; will gain knowledge of U.S. MARC coding and learn to apply it to local cataloging practice; and will learn basic processing and preservation techniques.
