Prerequisite: ACFS-0050W or Writing Placement Exam and ACFS-0060R or Reading Placement Exam Th is is a survey course covering art, music, theatre, fi lm, dance, architecture and philosophy which examines the unfolding of the humanistic traditions of the West through the landmarks of Western cultural traditions in order to reawaken our sense of wonder and curiosity about the meaning of life. Th e course gives the students criteria from which to evaluate our own time and situation and, in addition, enrich students' historical perspectives. It shows how the various arts intersect, infl uence and are infl uenced by their times. Th is course is off ered as a general introduction to humanities and is not meant to replace or supplant the more specifi c off erings in art history, theatre history, music history, or philosophy.
