Student will explore technologies used for more advanced activities performed in the health information management department through review of literature and hands-on experience in a lab setting. Topics include: fundamentals of healthcare information systems, emerging technologies in healthcare, security of information, issues surrounding the implementation of the electronic health record, supervision of departmental activities and human resource issues.
