Prerequisite: None Th is course is a study of the historical development of the visual arts of the western world from prehistoric times through the Gothic Period. Emphasis will be on the characteristics of the major periods and the economic, social and religious motivations which infl uenced the aesthetic response. Th e course includes prehistoric and primitive, ancient, early Christian and Byzantine, the Middle Ages and Gothic periods.
