PrerequisiteAdmission to the Surgical First Assistant Program This course is a continuation of Surgical Pharmacology (SUR 140and teaches what medications the surgical first assistant will most frequently use in surgical and anesthetic procedures. The course will examine anesthesia as a complex and specialized area of pharmacology. Another focus will be on local and general anesthetics, neuromuscular blocking agents, analgesics, antibiotics, drugs that affect blood coagulation, and drugs used to manage circulatory disorders. Safe handling of anti-neoplastic drugs will also be taught.
