PrerequisiteSW 101, SW 102 This course examines drug and alcohol abuse, its effects on social functioning with a special emphasis on vulnerable population groups, and the nature and effectiveness of substance abuse services. Students will also investigate case studies and recent literature, compare and contrast service using social work principles and examine the roles of agency personnel (paraprofessional/professional). The legislative response to substance use and abuse will also be addressed.
