PrerequisiteDHY 129, DHY 130 Pharmacology may be defined as the science of drugs. As a biomedical science, pharmacology embraces the physical and chemical properties of drugs, the preparation of pharmaceutical agents, the pharmacokinetics of drugs, and the effects of drugs on living systems. As a clinical discipline, pharmacology encompasses the therapeutic application of medicines, toxicity, and practical and legal issues pertaining to the development, marketing, and dispensing of drugs. Pharmacology is clearly a complex and dynamic subject with new drugs entering the market place very frequently.
