The focus of this course will be the role of the sonographer in the health care environment, professionalism, ethical and legal issues facing the health care provider, patient confidentiality and proper patient technique with HIPPA and OSHA regulations discussed. CPR, patient transport and relevant hospital machinery will be introduced to the student as well. The student will also understand the history and progression of ultrasound as a modality. The student will be introduced to the ultrasound unit with limited instruction on instrumentation. Patient preparation and minimal ultrasound scanning will be discussed and performed. PREREQUISITE: formal acceptance into the DMS program
