This course is a study of the principles of child development and learning, and their implications to the teacher in early childhood programs. The emphasis of this course is on the physical, cognitive, communication, creative, self, social and the guidance aspects of early childhood programs. This course focuses on children birth to age eight and covers all aspects of a child's physical and cognitive growth and socio-emotional development. The student will be introduced to ways to observe and evaluate children's development and recognize possible delays in development. The course content is based upon guidelines established by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition. Co-requisites: EDCC 0001, 1001, 1003, 1023, MEDL 1011 (3,0,3)
