The student utilizes knowledge of the nursing process in caring for patients with a variety of unmet needs. Continuing with the integrated approach, the curriculum subconcepts of community resources, therapeutic communication, leadership/management, nursing process, professional standards, teaching-learning principles, therapeutic nursing interventions, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary health care are expanded. The curriculum subconcepts are interwoven throughout the course in which the nursing care of clients of all ages at varying phases of adaptation are discussed. The emphasis is on nursing care of the client(s) with: selective psychosocial nursing topics, musculoskeletal trauma and disorders, OB complications, critical care and emergency nursing. Prerequisite: NSG 2208 (Nursing Theory I). Corequisite: NSG 2313 Nursing Practicum II).
