Prerequisite: NURS 131 and 191 and acceptance to the Nursing Program. Open to students accepted to the nursing program only. NURS 161 is a required clinical course to be taken concurrently with NURS 160. This beginning level course focuses on the integration of basic nursing process skills to identify the client's reaction or adaptation to stressors and to develop nursing interventions to foster the client's achievement and/or maintenance of an optimal level of wellness. Attention is given to the physiological, psychological, sociocultural, developmental and spiritual variables as they affect the client's lines of defense. Twelve hours clinical practice for 7-1/2 weeks.
