Prerequisite: Acceptance to the Nursing Program. In this introductory course, the student will develop a foundation of basic concepts, skills and techniques of nursing practice. This foundation will assist the student to address the physiological, psychological, sociocultural, developmental and spiritual variables related to client care. The five step nursing process will be the framework utilized in preparing the beginning nursing student to apply the skills and knowledge necessary in identifying client reactions/adaptations to stressors and in assisting clients to maintain optimum level of wellness. Four hours lecture weekly for 7-1/2 weeks.
