Prerequisite: EMT Basic or EMT Intermediate and acceptance into the Paramedic Program. This course prepares the Paramedic to identify, assess, manage, and treat various medical emergencies. Topics include Neurology, Endocrinology, Allergies and Anaphylaxis, Gasteroeneterology, Urology, Toxicology, Environmental Conditions, Infectious and Communicable Diseases, Behavioral and Psychiatric Disorders, Gynecological and Obstetrical Emergencies, and associated pharmacological interventions. Advanced Cardiac life Support is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in the prehospital or hospital setting. The course will enhance skills in the treatment of arrest and peri-arrest patients through active participation in a series of simulated cardiopulmonary cases. Megacodes will be practiced and evaluated.
