Prerequisite: None This course covers the basics of tree care as it applies to trees in the urban environment. The semester will begin with biology of trees in order to help the student to understand why it is necessary to follow the practices that will be described throughout the class. Also, the biological portion of the class will increase the appreciation for trees, an understanding of the complex physiological processes that take place within trees will raise them from inanimate objects to fellow inhabitant and contributors to the environment in the urban setting. Completion of this course and Urban Tree Care II will provide the student with the resources necessary to prepare for the International Society of Arboriculture' Certification for Arborists Examination.
