Prerequisite: CHEM 111 or CHEM 121. An introduction to the theory and practice of the fundamental reactions of organic chemistry. Topics include the hydrocarbon families, halogenated hydrocarbons, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, amines, amino acids, and various topics selected from biochemistry. Laboratory work pertaining to these topics will be covered. This course is recommended for nursing majors, science majors needing organic chemistry, medical laboratory technicians, and others in the allied health medical professions. Lecture 4 hours, Laboratory 2 hours, Total 6 hours per week. SP
