Prerequisite: CHEM101, CHEM113 or CHEM123 with a grade of C or better. Introductory course in organic chemistry and the fundamental concepts of biochemistry. Course will review basic functional group structure, nomenclature, reactivity, and introduce organic reaction mechanisms. Course will explore the molecules associated with life functions, with an emphasis on physiological, nutritional, and comparative aspects. Required for some nonchemistry majors and generally does not transfer for chemistry majors.
