Tolkein and 1) study the historical and literary sources of Tolkein's mythmaking, 2) consider how Tolkein's works reflect the historical context in which they were written, 3) examine how the quest motif is reshaped by Tolkein's trilogy and 4) explore Tolkein's contribution to the development of the genre of fantasy literature.
