This course is designed to teach the basic elements of music-rhythm, keys, scales, chords, and notation-to future classroom teachers. This course acquaints students with several series of music books used in grades K-6. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to play short melodies and chords on the piano, accompany singing on the autoharp, and know the basic elements of music. No previous instruction in music is required. This course is strongly recommended for elementary education majors. Tests are given after each skill is learned. Each student is responsible for a bulletin board at a given time during the semester. Three hours of lecture per week. Credit, three semester hours
