The student will receive a general survey of American history from the pre-Columbian Era to the Reconstruction. This study will include the Colonial Era with special emphasis on the English, the American Revolution, the forming of a new government, and the social and economic aspects of American life from 1783 to 1865. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will demonstrate a knowledge of the above through periodic objective and subjective tests, map work, outside readings, research, oral reports, and class discussion pertaining to lecture and current events.
