Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to write complete essays exhibiting unity, coherence, adequate and appropriate development, and comparative freedom from errors in grammar, mechanics, and usage. Grades will be A, B, C, or F. To pass, a student must earn at least a C average for the semester grade and pass an exit essay. Assignment to English 1103 may be required upon evaluation of the student's ACT score and/or his/her performance on standard writing assignments administered during the first week of classes. This class meets for three hours of lecture and practice per week; students who fail to pass a skill or who need additional assistance on specific skills are advised to attend the Learning Lab. This course will not satisfy any part of the English core requirement and does not satisfy degree requirements. Institutional Credit, three semester hours
