This course is designed to help the student lacking the necessary skills for enrolling in General Chemistry I (CHE 1213). Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to understand basic chemical principles, atomic theory, and periodic properties. The student will be able to write chemical formulas, write balanced chemical equations, and solve quantitative calculations involving metric conversions, heat transfer, mole conversions, gas laws, and stoichiometry. Testing will consist of unit tests and a comprehensive final exam. Three hours of lecture per week. No laboratory requirement. This course will only count for institutional credit.
