Hours: 3 Course ID: 003814 Introduces standards for designing relational databases. Includes first, second, and third normal forms to eliminate modification anomalies. Reviews the capabilities of three major types of data models -- hierarchical, network, and relational -- as they apply to hypothetical sets of data objects. Includes the creation of logical design and translation into a physical database using the relational model. Includes interaction with the physical database through a graphical interface and Query-by-example. Prerequisite: Computer literacy course, MT 120 or MT 122, or consent of instructor.
