Hours: 1 Course ID: 004622 Introduction to deaf culture; knowledge and understanding of realtime terminology; ADA guidelines; deaf culture/awareness; communication devices such as hearing aids, TTY access, sound amplifiers, and assistive listening devices. Differences among deaf, late-deaf, oral deaf, and hard-of-hearing for the deaf culture's needs. Types of hearing loss including conductive, sensorineural, and mixed. Degree of hearing loss: mild moderate, severe, and profound. Cochlear implants, ear anatomy, human interpreters, Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) environments, CART Provider's Manual, and Guidelines for Professional Practices for CART Providers.
