Introduction to occupational therapy including the historical development and philosophy. Emphasis on the roles of the occupational therapy assistant. Topics include occupation in daily life; education and functions; occupational therapy personnel; current health care environment; and moral, legal, and ethical issues. Learning Outcomes: The student will discuss the history of occupational therapy; define and identify occupational therapy frames of reference; compare and contrast the education, roles, and functions of occupational therapy personnel; identify occupational performance areas, skills, and patients; compare occupational therapy practice areas; and demonstrate patient/practitioner interaction. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
