Emphasis on patient-centered assessment, examination, intervention, and treatment as directed by physician. Includes vital signs, collection and documentation of patient information, asepsis, minor surgical procedures, and other treatments as appropriate for the medical office. Learning Outcomes: The student will identify and comply with OSHA guidelines and universal precautions; properly identify and respond to medical emergencies; identify and assist with routine and specialty office exams; and properly perform medical and surgical asepsis and sterile procedures/techniques appropriate for the medical office. Prerequisites: MDCA 1313, MDCA 1305, MDCA 1409, and HPRS 1304, Co-requisites: HPRS 2300.
