Emphasizes accurate ICD-9 and CPT coding of office procedures for payment/reimbursement by patient or third party. Additional topics may include managed care or medical economics. Learning Outcomes: The student will accurately code procedures performed during office visits; accurately bill patients or insurance carriers for visits/procedures; and describe and explain the differences/similarities among insurance plans. The student will accurately file third party reimbursement forms; and define HMO, PPO, Managed Care, IPA, PA healthcare delivery systems. Prerequisites: MDCA 1313 and MDCA 1409; Co-requisite: MDCA 1321.
