Topics include health promotion, expanded assessment, analysis of data, nursing process, pharmacology, multidisciplinary teamwork, communication and applicable competencies in knowledge, judgment, skills and professional values within a legal/ethical framework. An accelerated course of study for qualified LVNs that will incorporate content and practice taught in the programs Level I and Level II courses. This transition course is designed to assess, validate and enhance the LVN's basic knowledge of nursing gained in LVN education and working experience. Study of medical-surgical areas of patient care relating to basic medical-surgical nursing. Emphasis on the role of the registered nurse and the application of clinical decision making to nursing practice. Must be repeated if clinical RNSG 1163 is not successful. Prerequisites: BIOL 2401, 2402, 2420, CHEM 1406, PSYC 2301, 2314. Concurrent: RNSG 1163, 2306. Assessment Levels: R3, E3, M3.
