Study of concepts related to the provision of nursing care for childbearing and childrearing families in a multidisciplinary approach; competency in knowledge, judgment, skill and professional values within a legal/ethical framework, focus on normal needs for the childbearing/childrearing family during the conception, prenatal, intrapartum, neonatal, postpartum and childrearing experience from conception through 18 years of age. Emphasis on applying the nursing process to client/patient and family assessment, caring for the family in crisis, developing communication skills with families and teaching appropriate health practices. Must be repeated if clinical RNSG 2162 is not successful. Prerequisites: RNSG 1160, 1201, 1413, 2306, PSYC 2301, CHEM 1406. Concurrent: RNSG 2162, BIOL 2420, PSYC 2314. Assessment Levels: R3, E3, M3.
