A study of the secular song in France and Germany, from the early forms of the Middle Ages to the present. Offered Fall, alternate years. Major program outcomes: student will be expected to develop an understanding of musical forms and processes in their historical contexts, and be able to place the music studied in historical, cultural, and stylistic contexts.
