The first of two courses designed to provide a foundation in organic chemistry, a study of the chemistry of carbon and its compounds. The course is a study of structural theory, functional groups, nomenclature, stereochemisty, reaction mechanisms, synthesis, and properties of organic compounds. This course is designed for both science majors and minors. Prerequisites: CHEM 1411 and CHEM 1412. Co-requisite: CHEX 2423.
