Clinical practice in respiratory care including rotations through general therapy procedures (including limited evening, weekend, and night rotations), critical respiratory care, pulmonary function testing, secondary clinical affiliates, clinical laboratory, anesthesia, and respiratory therapy management and education. Clinical competence in adult ventilator set-up, infant ventilator set-up, patient transport with mechanical ventilation, exercise testing, methacholine challenge testing, lung diffusion testing, respiratory equipment cleaning and maintenance. In addition to application, emphasis will be placed on patient evaluation and determination of appropriateness of therapy. Prerequisites: RT270. 3 credit hours.
