Fall Semester This course is designed as an introduction to the theoretical and practical foundations of successful event management and special event planning. Lectures will emphasize the typology and categories of special events, including but not limited to: fairs, exhibitions, festivals, holiday celebrations, recognitions, spectator events, and conferences. Focus will also be on the development and preparation of detailed management plans required of a recreation professional. Students will directly observe and evaluate a special event. Prerequisites: REC101 and REC103. 3 credit hours.
