Fall Semester This course is divided into two parts. In the first part, students are introduced to engineering design, team development, problem-solving methodologies, and a team design project, the purpose of which is to create, design, and build simple mechanical devices that will perform a specified function subject to several defined constraints. Concurrent with this is a second part involving the development of engineering skills including PC Tools (such as MS Excel, Powerpoint, and Mathcad), computation using hand calculators, introduction to SolidWorks, and communication skills including oral, written, and pictorial communication. 2 credit hours.
